Alzheimer’s disease in Down syndrome: from APP discovery to cure

The full extent of the risk for dementia due to Alzheimer's disease Down syndrome (Trisomy 21) has only recently become fully apparent in the context of improving life expectancy of Down syndrome individuals. Professor Strydom will review current knowledge on the etiology of Alzheimer's disease in Down syndrome, clinical presentation and  diagnosis  in the presence of intellectual impairments, treatment, and the prospects for prevention in the future.
